Week 2 MBA 6101 - Cars of the future

Yes, we all know the future is making its way to us faster than expected. Teaching robots, flying cars, self-driving cars, drones, smart homes, etc. Prototypes are already underway for so many of these technologies.

Dr. Todd Kelsey mentions in chapter 2 of "Surfing the Tsunami" a self-driving car created by Google. Waymo the self-driving car has adapted to the real world of driving by recognizing stop signs, lights, pedestrians walking across the street, traffic, and other objects we would notice as if we were driving. It has gone through various test runs to ensure it is safe, fully operational and there are no hardware or technical problems before launch. More information about Waymo can be found on their website.

This is not the only self-driving car/taxi, a few more companies have also created their own self-driving cars. Some of them are listed below.

1. AutoX
2. Zoox
Apple is also working its way towards making a self-driving car but that is a long way to go.

It is great to see that we can provide transportation for people who are not able to drive. It gives individuals a chance to feel independent and not have to rely on anyone else to go places. I feel the use of these vehicles will benefit the planet and everyone on it by reducing the number of cars on the street (hopefully), and our carbon footprint.
